WACO AVIATION SUMMER ACADEMY
5th - 8th grade
June 15–19, 9 AM – 2:30 PM daily
MEMBER: $385, NON-MEMBER: $400
This 5-day camp immerses students in aviation history, theory, and science. Through a combination of ground school instruction and flight simulators, campers build foundational knowledge that may prepare them for an introductory flight in a real airplane. Sponsored by the Upper Valley Medical Center Community Benefit Fund.
Campers will experience a variety of hands-on activities, which may include building and flying models such as gliders, kites, hot air balloons, paper rockets, rubber band–powered airplanes, and 2-liter bottle rockets. Additional activities may include flying radio-controlled airplanes and quadcopters, as well as time in the simulator lab. Specific projects and experiences vary each year based on scheduling, weather, and instructor availability.
Campers may also have the opportunity to fly in a full-scale airplane.
Guest speakers introduce campers to potential careers in aviation.
