Mike Greenlee was an accident investigator for 20 years. On Thursday, February 17^th, at 7 pm, Mike will speak at WACO Air Museum on how a major airline accident is investigated, and his experiences as an investigator.  Captain Greenlee served on the safety committee as an accident investigator for the Airline Pilot’s Association (ALPA) from 1996 to 2007 and in the same capacity for the US Airline Pilot’s Association (USAPA). While flying for USAir and later American Airlines, Mike flew Douglas, Fokker, Boeing, and Airbus aircraft. He brings a unique perspective to air safety and accident investigation as a surviving crew member with his experience as the Captain of USAir flight 1016 on July 2,1994 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Captain Greenlee has testified at an NTSB public hearing and in civil litigation. Mike has flown over 40 different aircraft types and is currently flying a Luscombe. On this evening, he will share examples from his experiences, including the “Miracle on the Hudson, USAIR Flight 1549.”

Mike is a retired airline and US Air Force pilot with over 33,000 hours of flying experience and over 30 years as an airline captain. He began flying in 1971 and graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1979. Lieutenant Colonel Greenlee’s Air Force career began in 1982 until retirement from the Air Force Reserve in 2007. He flew the McDonnell-Douglas F4D Phantom and the General Dynamics F16A Fighting Falcon while accumulating over 1700 hours of military flying time. During his career, Mike served as a safety officer, flight leader, mission commander, acquisition advisor, and program manager. He authored and presented seminars on flying safety and standardization for several Air Force organizations. Mike was a distinguished graduate of Air Force pilot training and a graduate of the Air War College.
