REGISTER OR SPONSOR A CHILD

When you sponsor a child you are giving a child a fantastic learning experience.

This program is for students who are interested in science and technology. WACO sponsors 5 FLL teams (ages 9-14), and one FTC team (high school ages).  Each team has at least one coach and an assistant coach and has up to 8 team members. The teams participate in a Challenge set forth by FIRST.  The Challenge consists of programming an autonomous robot to complete certain tasks (the Robot Game) on a playing field, which scores points for the team.  The team also works on developing a solution to a problem (The Project) as part of the Challenge.  This will involve preparing a presentation to give before a panel of judges.  Both aspects of the competition, the Robot Game and the Project, will be judged at an official tournament.

Being on a FLL team requires a commitment to the team and the other team members.  This requires regular meeting attendance and prep for the meetings outside of the regular meeting time.  It is also a very rewarding experience of learning to work together as a team to find solutions.  It provides a spirit of friendly competition with other FLL teams.

If you are interested in being considered for one of our teams, please plan on attending one of our Robotic Camps.  As openings are available, team members will be selected from our Robotics Camp participants first, and then from other outside sources.  Participation fee is $100.
